The asterisk (*) means the Holy Day begins at sunset on the day before the date listed, and continues for 24 hours, until sunset on the following day.
The asterisk (*) means the Holy Day begins at sunset on the day before the date listed. For example: if the Feast of Weeks (Chag Shavuot) is listed as *May 23rd, then the holy day begins on May 22nd at sunset, and lasts until May 23rd at sunset.
